Petersburg police delivered 100 migrants with Russian passports to military enlistment offices

In St. Petersburg, the police conducted a two-day raid on the Sofia vegetable warehouse (aka Kupchinskaya or simply Yuzhnaya). There, the security forces found about 100 unregistered migrants with Russian passports. They were taken to the military registration and enlistment offices.
In total, during the inspection, almost 400 foreign citizens were identified, 55 of them were on the territory of the Russian Federation in violation of migration legislation. One migrant presented fake documents, in connection with which a criminal case was initiated against him under Art. 327 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (forgery, production or circulation of forged documents). Sending people with Russian passports found during the raids to the military registration and enlistment offices was called by the police a “new option” to check compliance with migration laws.
The department noted that from the point of view of the main goal of the raid, this category of citizens in itself is not of operational interest, however, taking the opportunity, law enforcement officers “do not miss the opportunity to further educate the Russians.” The head office recalled that military service is a constitutional obligation.
On the eve of the St. Petersburg central office announced the initiation of approximately three hundred criminal cases in the last five days alone, the bulk of which are related to illegal migration. The Ministry of Internal Affairs for the region emphasized that violations of the law were revealed using a “fresh” and “high-precision” approach. Previously, the raids were total, but now the security forces have begun to act on a special “road map”, which is based on complaints from residents in specific areas.
