“Vodokanal of St. Petersburg” said that on the Day of the Airborne Forces on August 2, the city plans to turn off the fountains in case there are attempts to swim in them.
The fountains will operate as usual from 9:00 to 22:00, but the supply of water will be stopped when “those who want to freshen up” appear, the report said. It is also reported that swimming in the fountains is prohibited, as it can cause injury or damage to fountain equipment.
Bathing in fountains is considered an “informal tradition” of paratroopers on the day of the Airborne Forces. Attempts to dissuade them from this way of celebrating August 2 have been made before.
