Nikolay Peskov, the son of the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov, confirmed that he served in the Wagner PMC in the zone of the special military operation, reports website KP.RU. Earlier this was stated by the founder of PMC “Wagner” Yevgeny Prigozhin.
“It was my initiative. And absolutely my decision,” he told reporters.
Nikolai explained that he turned to his father because he did not know how to contact the Wagner PMC, and he helped in this.
He added that he decided to go to the NWO zone because he felt he had an obligation to participate in order to help everyone who was there. Nikolai says that he could not sit when his friends went there.
According to Nikolai Peskov, his father and other family members asked if he understood where he was going to go, but after hearing an affirmative answer, they did not dissuade him.
As for the Wagner PMC, Nikolai said that the team there was friendly and they accepted him normally, but they did not know who he was, since he went under a different surname.
Nikolai Peskov spent a little less than six months in the troops. He said that he rarely managed to call his wife and father and say that everything was fine with him. At the same time, Nikolai confirmed that he was scared in the war zone. At the same time, he received the medal “For Courage” for his service.
“I am insanely proud of everyone who is there now, all the guys are doing a tremendous job. And I think that all the tasks set will be completed. I am convinced of this,” Nikolai Peskov summed up.
