Peskov: the President will not hold the Security Council on the situation in the Belgorod region

Russian President Vladimir Putin does not plan to hold meetings of the Security Council on the situation in the Belgorod region, on the territory of which a sabotage and reconnaissance group penetrated on May 22. This was stated by the press secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov.

“No special [заседания] is not going to carry out. This week, probably towards the end of the week, this regular meeting will take place. But there are no special plans,” Peskov said.

When asked about the number of saboteurs who entered the region, Peskov said that he could not give these figures. “Now our special services are doing this. They find out the identity, the number and so on. After they find out, it will be possible to ask them questions, ”said the presidential press secretary.

Peskov also noted that the penetration of the DRG into the territory of the Belgorod region is of deep concern. He notedthat the members of the group are Ukrainian militants.

On May 22, a Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance group penetrated the territory of the Graivoronsky district of the Belgorod region. According to the latest data from Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov, 12 civilians were injured as a result of this.

Due to the penetration of saboteurs in the Belgorod region introduced legal regime of the counter-terrorist operation (CTO). On the morning of May 23, Gladkov reported that cleansing of the territory was continuing in the Graivoronsky district.

Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia aroused criminal case under six articles: 205, 317, 105, 167, 222, 222.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (terrorist act, encroachment on the life of law enforcement officers, attempted murder, intentional destruction or damage to property, illegal trafficking in weapons and explosives). Investigators are working to identify the attackers, and also find out all the circumstances of the incident, specified in the UK.
