Dmitry Peskov answered the question in the negative, whether the authorities have plans to rename Volgograd to Stalingrad. Such proposals are heard in connection with the approaching anniversary of the Battle of Stalingrad.
“No, there are no discussions,” the Kremlin spokesman said.
On the eve of the former Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, ex-chairman of the Accounts Chamber of the Russian Federation Sergei Stepashin said that it is necessary to rename Volgograd to Stalingrad in memory of the Battle of Stalingrad, which became one of the turning points of the Great Patriotic War, and also taking into account the point of view of the inhabitants of the city. According to him, most of the inhabitants of Volgograd call themselves Stalingraders.
