The crew of the Russian tank, which single-handedly stopped the advance of eight pieces of equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, will most likely be presented for state awards, said Dmitry Peskov, press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation.

“With a great deal of confidence, I can say yes,” he answered the question of journalists whether the crew would be awarded.

Peskov added that the Kremlin saw the video of the battle itself, noting that the demonstrated professionalism arouses admiration and a sense of pride in the Russian military.

“These are absolutely unique shots and a unique situation, which, of course, can be sorted out almost in textbooks,” he said.

The battle in question took place in the Zaporozhye region near the Vremevsky ledge. The column of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as reported by military correspondents, consisted of two tanks and six MRAP M1224 MaxxPro. The Telegram channel “Russian Spring Military Correspondents” noted that the battle took place closer to the start of the Ukrainian counteroffensive. At the same time, a video recording of the battle, obtained from a drone, was distributed on the network on July 29. Acting head of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) Denis Pushilin then instructed to award the crew of the Russian tank.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine began active offensive operations on June 4. The Kremlin has repeatedly stated about the lack of success of the Ukrainian army. According to the Ministry of Defense, which was cited by Minister Sergei Shoigu in July, since the start of the counteroffensive, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have lost more than 26,000 people.
