The Kremlin responded to the second attack in two days on the tower of the IQ quarter in Moscow City, which houses a number of ministries. The presidential press secretary acknowledged that there is an obvious threat to the capital, but stressed that only the Ministry of Defense can comment on what happened.
“There is nothing to add to what the Ministry of Defense has said. Only the military can comment from an expert point of view. The threat exists, it is obvious. Measures are being taken,” Mr. Peskov answered a question from Kommersant FM about how the Kremlin assesses the security of the capital.
At the same time, he stressed that the Kremlin does not see analogues of the UAV attack since September 11, 2001 in New York. Then, as a result of an attack by the terrorist organization Al-Qaeda, banned in the Russian Federation, the twin towers of the World Trade Center were destroyed.
On the night of August 1, Moscow was attacked by drones. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, only in the attack was used three UAVs. Two devices were intercepted by air defense systems in the Odintsovo and Naro-Fominsk districts of the Moscow region. One was suppressed by means of electronic warfare, after which it fell on the territory of Moscow City. During the last attack, on July 30, also were damaged the building of the government complex in the IQ quarter and Oko-2. Today, August 1, adviser to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine Mikhail Podolyak said that drone attacks on Russian territory will occur more frequently.
The building of the IQ quarter in Moscow City houses the offices of the Ministry of Digital Development, the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Federal Accreditation Service and the Russian Agricultural Bank.
