Peskov supported Medvedev’s position on digital piracy

The call of the deputy head of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev to distribute pirated copies of Western intellectual products on the Internet was supported by the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov. Mr. Medvedev declaredwhich considers it right not only to download, but also to distribute copies of works that are now unavailable in Russia.
“We are dealing with pirates – those who robbed us; those who seized our assets, stole our assets … The phrase “pirated content” should be perceived under a different sauce,” Mr. Peskov commented to journalists (quoted from “RIA News”). He also noted that since he himself does not know how to use torrents, others download films to him.
The deputy head of the Security Council called for the distribution of pirated copies that the companies that left the Russian market went bankrupt. In January he urged accept rules on the use of their intellectual property without any licenses and payment of royalties. “This, among other things, will be our retaliatory sanctions on their property rights. For everything: from movies to industrial software,” Dmitry Medvedev said and thanked the developers of programs for “piracy under the regime of personal sanctions.”
In response to the military operation, Universal, Disney, Sony and Warner suspended operations in Russia and began to revoke the licenses to show their films.
