Peskov spoke about the risk of third forces being involved in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict

The Palestinian-Israeli conflict is developing along the path of increasing escalation, there is a risk of third forces being involved, said the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov.

Answering the question whether Russia sees a risk of further escalation in the American navy, which is moving towards the shores of Israel, Peskov noted that the overall situation “causes our deep concern.”

“We are watching very closely what is happening there. So far we see that the situation is developing along the path of escalation. There is a great risk of third forces being involved in this conflict,” Peskov said (quote according to RIA Novosti).

On the morning of October 7, Hamas began military operations against Israel. The IDF responded by launching Operation Iron Swords, and the Israeli government announced that the country had entered a state of war. Earlier today, the IDF announced the restoration of control over all populated areas of Israel and the transition to the phase of the complete destruction of Hamas.

October 8, Pentagon press service reported, that the administration of US President Joe Biden has decided to send an aircraft carrier group led by the aircraft carrier Gerald R. Ford to the Eastern Mediterranean due to an attack by Palestinian groups on Israel. The aircraft carrier group also includes the missile cruiser USS Normandy, destroyers USS Thomas, USS Ramage, USS Carney, etc. In addition, the Pentagon decided to increase the number of US combat aircraft stationed in the region.

Previously Peskov statedthat the situation needs to be “returned to a peaceful channel” as soon as possible, since the continuation of hostilities “is fraught with further escalation and growth of the conflict.”

According to Israeli media, more than 700 citizens of the country were killed as a result of the Hamas attack on Israel. In Palestine, more than 400 deaths were reported, with about 2,200 injured. Peskov today clarifiedthat the Russian Embassy in Israel has no information about the injured Russians. Diplomats are also working with the Palestinian authorities to clarify the fate of Russian citizens living in PNA territory.
