Peskov spoke about the bill restricting the voting rights of foreign agents

At the briefing, Dmitry Peskov was asked to comment on the initiative of A Just Russia, which submitted to the State Duma a bill banning foreign agents from being elected to government bodies at all levels. As party leader Sergei Mironov explained, since many foreign agents take anti-Russian positions and support the Armed Forces of Ukraine, their voting rights need to be limited.

Dmitry Peskov said that the Kremlin has no position on this matter. “This was not our initiative,” he added. The Kremlin speaker made it clear that it is too early to talk about the president’s position now - deputies are just beginning to discuss the Fair Russia initiative.

Peskov refused to clarify whether the Kremlin considers this bill discriminatory. “I have nothing to say about this now,” the presidential spokesman said.
