Peskov spoke about Putin’s trip to the Kherson region

It is important for Russian President Vladimir Putin, being the Supreme Commander, to receive information on the spot about the conduct of a special operation in Ukraine, said his press secretary Dmitry Peskov.

The journalists were asked to comment on why the president now visited the LPR and the Kherson region for the first time since the regions were annexed to Russia.

“The President is now increasingly visiting new regions and conducting headquarters checks, receiving information on the spot, operational information on the progress of the special military operation. This is important for the Supreme Commander, and this is how he conducts his work,” he replied.

Peskov also stressed that the trip took place yesterday, April 17.

The Kremlin representative was also asked to comment on what conclusions the president made about the state of the troops based on the results of the trip, taking into account the disseminated information about the impending offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“This is the routine work of the supreme commander. As for assessments of the state of the troops, this is the prerogative of the Ministry of Defense. We have no right to give any information here,” Peskov commented.

April 17 Putin visited headquarters of the Dnepr group of troops in the Kherson direction. During the trip, Putin listened to the reports of the commander of the Airborne Forces, Colonel-General Mikhail Teplinsky, the commander of the Dnepr grouping, Colonel-General Oleg Makarevich, and other military leaders. At the meeting, the president turned to the military with a request to share their opinion on the situation in the Kherson and Zaporozhye directions.

Later, the Kremlin added that Putin also visited the headquarters of the Vostok National Guard in the LPR. There he received reports from Colonel General Alexander Lapin and other senior officers on the situation in this direction. In addition, the President congratulated the servicemen of both headquarters on Easter and presented them with copies of the icons. Peskov, who was asked today to give details about the icon, promised to clarify the information and report later. As the Kremlin reported, these presidential trips were not prepared in advance.
