Peskov said that Ukraine used the grain corridor for combat purposes

Ukraine used the grain deal zone for military purposes and this “is not a secret to anyone,” said Dmitry Peskov, a spokesman for the Russian president.

“If you take this zone, let’s say, of the implementation of the grain deal, it is no longer a secret to anyone, it is an obvious fact that this zone is used by the Kiev regime for military purposes,” the Kremlin spokesman said.

Peskov also assessed the idea of ​​continuing the Black Sea initiative without Russia’s participation in it. According to him, without “appropriate security guarantees”, there are “certain risks”.

Former State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin wrote on his Telegram channel that Ukraine used the Black Sea corridor to “cover the terrorist attacks of the Kyiv regime.” He noted that the attack on the Crimean bridge on July 17 was also carried out “under the guise of a grain security corridor.”

On July 17, Russia announced its withdrawal from the grain agreement, which was signed on July 22, 2022 by representatives of Turkey, the UN, Russia and Ukraine. Separate agreements were concluded with Moscow and Kiev. The first is for the export of Ukrainian grain from three ports, including Odessa, Yuzhny and Chornomorsk, the second is for assistance in the export of Russian grain and fertilizers. The Russian authorities have repeatedly noted that the second part of the deal is not being implemented.

On the morning of the same day, Ukrainian surface drones attacked the Crimean bridge. As a result of the incident, a married couple died, their minor daughter was injured. The Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia opened a case on the fact of the attack about a terrorist attack, which, according to the department, was being prepared on the instructions of the Ukrainian special services. In Ukraine, the damage to the Crimean bridge was called a “provocation”.
