Peskov said that the plenary meeting of the WEF will be held on September 12

Russian President Vladimir Putin will speak at the plenary session of the Eastern Economic Forum on September 12. This was announced by the press secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov.

“As always, these will be very, very eventful days. I can only say that the plenary session will take place on September 12, it is scheduled for 15:00 Vladivostok time (08:00 Moscow time – ed.). We look forward to an interesting discussion,” he said.

Peskov added that the final details of the program are still being agreed upon. “As for the elements of the program, we will definitely introduce it a little later,” he added.

Earlier sources of Vedomosti reportedthat Putin can visit the Far East during the days of the WEF. It is assumed that in addition to participation in the plenary session, the head of state has other events planned, including business meetings. Vedomosti’s interlocutor did not specify whether Putin plans to meet with foreign leaders.

This year, the WEF will be held from 10 to 13 September in Vladivostok. It was originally planned that the forum would take place on September 5-8. However, later the dates were changed due to “taking into account the schedules of international events,” explained Deputy Prime Minister – Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District Yury Trutnev.

Eastern Economic Forum was first held in 2015. It was organized by Putin’s decree. It has become a tradition, and Primorsky Krai was appointed the “capital” of the WEF, where Russian and foreign guests have come and come. The main task of the WEF was the strengthening of ties between the international investment community, Russian entrepreneurs, federal, regional and local authorities, a comprehensive expert assessment of the economic potential of the Far East.

In 2022, Putin spoke at the plenary session of the forum. In addition to the Russian president, it was attended by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Mongolian Prime Minister Luvsannamsrein Oyuun-Erdene, Myanmar Interim Government Prime Minister Min Aung Hlain and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress Li Zhanshu.
