The Ministry of Defense is taking all possible measures to rectify the very difficult situation in the DPR for the better, said presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
The journalists reminded the press secretary that the acting head of the DPR, Denis Pushilin, at a meeting with the president, asked for additional air defense systems to be provided to the republic.
“The President described the situation in the republic as a very difficult one, and, of course, all possible measures are being taken through our defense department to rectify the situation for the better,” Peskov added.
On December 18, the Armed Forces of Ukraine carried out several attacks on the center of Donetsk. In particular, the mayor of the city, Aleksey Kulemzin, reported that shells hit the Kalinin hospital. According to Pushilin, one patient who was injured during the shelling died. In addition, on December 15, Kulemzin declared about the most massive shelling of Donetsk since 2014.
Russia’s special operation in Ukraine began on February 24. Putin called the protection of the inhabitants of Donbass, as well as the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, its goals. During the special operation, Russian troops took full control of the LPR, as well as most of the DPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. Subsequently, these territories became part of Russia, and on October 19 martial law was introduced in the regions.
