Russian President Vladimir Putin has conceptually supported the initiative to raise the draft age in the country, but details on this issue should be obtained from the Russian Defense Ministry. This was announced on Thursday, January 12, by the press secretary of the head of state Dmitry Peskov.
“Argumentation should be presented by the Ministry of Defense, in this case it is exclusively the prerogative of the Ministry of Defense,” the Kremlin spokesman said.
Earlier, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu proposed to gradually change the draft age in the country from the current 18-27 years to 21-30 years.
On the eve of the head of the State Duma Committee on Defense Andrei Kartapolov admitted that already during the spring conscription campaign of 2023 for military service can send citizens up to 30 years old inclusive.
