At the plenary session during the Eastern Economic Forum (WEF) 2022 with Russian President Vladimir Putin is not planned to discuss the issue of mobilization. This statement was made by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov.
Journalists asked the Kremlin representative whether an announcement about mobilization would be made at the WEF session.
“On mobilization, I’m here, frankly, having difficulty understanding why you are asking these questions. No one talks about this anywhere, I have not seen or heard this anywhere, ”Peskov said (quote according to TASS).
After the start of the special operation in Ukraine, information began to appear in the Western media about the imminent announcement of mobilization in Russia. In June, Peskov called fake publications of The Guardian, Independent and Daily Record about the imminent announcement of mobilization in Russia.
In July, the Ministry of Defense also denied such reports. The department emphasized that only a part of the Russian Armed Forces is participating in the special operation, the number of which is “quite sufficient to fulfill all the tasks set by the supreme commander in chief.”
In Ukraine, the day after the start of the special operation, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced a general mobilization. Moreover, in September it became known that Ukrainian women who have entered the military register will not be able to leave the country from October 1. After that, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin called on the women of Ukraine to leave the country so as not to fall under mobilization.
