Dmitry Peskov told reporters that the current leadership of Moldova is drifting towards “Russophobia, which is well known to us.”
He stressed that the Moldovan authorities identify their desire for European integration with the flourishing of Russophobia – for some reason this is considered an obligatory attribute.
“It does not quite correlate with the mood in society. But this country is trying to become unfriendly to us,” the Kremlin speaker said.
In response to a request to comment on the words of Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev that there is no such country as Moldova, Peskov noted that the Moldovans “have already destroyed their language and no longer call it Moldovan.” In addition, there is a “drift towards the absorption of Moldova by Romania” and “actions aimed at infringing on its sovereignty.”
“In this sense, curious processes are taking place there,” he said.
