Peskov: Russian intelligence services have long known about cooperation between the SBU and the CIA

Russian intelligence services have long been aware of the supervision of the Ukrainian intelligence services by the United States and Great Britain; Moscow has repeatedly spoken about this, said Dmitry Peskov, press secretary of the Russian President.

Thus, he commented on the investigation of The Washington Post (WP) that the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) is collaborating with the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). Peskov explained that the Kremlin has familiarized itself with the newspaper’s material. He emphasized that Moscow has been talking about this for a long time.

“And our special services have repeatedly spoken about the information we have about the close supervision of Ukrainian intelligence by US special services. Here you can add – and also Great Britain. Our special services have known about this for a long time and quite well, we are aware of this,” Peskov explained.

On the eve of WP reported citing sources that Daria Dugina’s murder was part of “shadow war” operations involving elite teams of Ukrainian operatives trained in partnership with the CIA. According to WP, since 2015, the CIA has spent tens of millions of dollars to turn Ukrainian intelligence agencies into powerful allies against Moscow. Newspaper also stated about the participation of the CIA in the development of drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for an attack on the Crimean bridge in July 2023. According to WP, the bridge was attacked by naval drones developed “as part of a top-secret operation” with the participation of the CIA and other Western intelligence agencies.

Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova statedthat media publications about the involvement of the CIA in the preparation of terrorist attacks in Kyiv against Russia are needed in order to relieve responsibility from the US presidential administration.
