Peskov: Russia maintains relations with Palestine and Israel

Russia has historical ties to both Palestine and Israel and maintains relations with both countries. This was stated by the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov, answering the question whether the Kremlin shares the position of the head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov, who declared support for Palestine.
Peskov emphasized that Russia and Palestine have long-standing historical ties. The states maintain contacts at different levels, including at a high level. At the same time, there are relations with Israel, where a large number of Russians live.
“We maintain relations with both countries in this conflict,” Peskov explained.
The Russian side participates in all formats of contacts with the Palestinians, during which they try to find common ground for resolving the conflict. However, they do not work entirely effectively, the presidential press secretary admitted.
“Nevertheless, we intend to continue to make efforts and play our role in terms of assistance in finding a path to reconciliation,” Peskov concluded.
Kadyrov spoke in support of Palestine on October 9. He called on “all Muslims, all citizens and our state” to stop this war or send Chechen peacekeepers to the conflict zone. He also called not to touch the Akhmat Kadyrov mosque in the Israeli Abu Ghosh and the Al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem.
