Peskov: Putin received direct information on the situation with the attack of drones

Russian President Vladimir Putin received direct information on the situation with the drone attack from the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the leadership of Moscow and the Moscow region. This was announced by the press secretary of the head of state Dmitry Peskov.

“Today, the President’s working day started very early. He received direct information from both the Ministry of Defense and the relevant departments, information from the mayor of Moscow, the governor of the Moscow region, from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, ”- informed he (quoted by RIA Novosti).

Ministry of Defense of Russia reportedthat on the morning of May 30, Kyiv hit Moscow with eight drones, all of them shot down. The defense department called the drone strikes on the capital a terrorist attack. It was clarified that five UAVs were shot down by the Pantsir-S anti-aircraft missile and gun system in the Moscow region, and three more were suppressed by electronic warfare. These three devices “lost control and deviated from their intended targets” as a result.

UAVs attacked several buildings in Moscow. According to the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin, no one was seriously injured as a result of the incident, two people sought medical help, which they received on the spot, but no one needed hospitalization. Later, Governor Andrei Vorobyov announced the operation of air defense systems in the Moscow Region.

Head of the State Duma Defense Committee Andrey Kartapolov declaredthat this drone attack is “an act of intimidation directed at the civilian population.” According to him, this became possible due to the fact that “we have a very large country and there will always be a loophole where a drone can fly, bypassing the areas where air defense systems are located.” Kartapolov added that a thorough analysis of the drones themselves, how and where they flew from, should be carried out in order to prevent such cases in the future.

Russian regions massively began to impose a ban on drone flights on the eve of May 9 after the drone attack on the Kremlin. In particular, at the beginning of May, restrictions were introduced in Moscow, Pskov, Leningrad regions, etc. During the May holidays, a ban on drone flights was established in Altai, in the Amur, Kemerovo regions and Kaliningrad.
