Russian President Vladimir Putin guaranteed the founder of Wagner PMC Yevgeny Prigozhin the possibility of leaving for Belarus, said the press secretary of the Russian leader Dmitry Peskov.
“If you ask what kind of guarantee that Prigozhin will be able to leave for Belarus, this is the word of the President of Russia,” he said.
Peskov also said that the regime of the counter-terrorist operation would be canceled in the near future.
Earlier, in a telephone conversation, Putin thanked his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko for the work done to resolve the situation around the Wagner PMC, the press service of the Belarusian president reported. Prigozhin, after negotiations with Lukashenka, announced his refusal to move on to Moscow and began to return Wagner fighters to field camps. It is known that Prigogine was offered a compromise solution to the issue, which made it possible to resolve the conflict points.
Dmitry Peskov reported that the criminal case of an armed rebellion against the founder of Wagner PMC Yevgeny Prigozhin would be dropped. He also noted that the situation around PMC “Wagner” will not affect the course of the NMD. Prigozhin himself will leave for Belarus.
The criminal case against Prigozhin became known last night. Under article 279 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation on organizing an armed rebellion, he was threatened with 12 to 20 years in prison.
