Personnel reshuffles in the Ministry of Defense are within the exclusive prerogative of Russian President Vladimir Putin, press secretary of the head of state Dmitry Peskov told reporters, noting the relevant question.
According to him, such topics were unlikely to be discussed during the negotiations between the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko and the founder of Wagner PMC Yevgeny Prigozhin.
“These issues are within the exclusive prerogative and competence of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief in accordance with the Constitution of the Russian Federation. Therefore, these topics could hardly be discussed during the mentioned contacts,” the Kremlin spokesman told reporters.
Earlier on June 24, it was reported that Lukashenka held talks with Prigozhin, as a result of which the latter agreed to take measures to de-escalate the situation. In particular, the founder of the PMC announced the return of fighters and equipment to field camps.
The fact of the negotiations confirmed Peskov. He explained that Prigozhin would move to Belarus, and his criminal case would be dropped. PMC fighters will not be prosecuted by law.
