Peskov promised an announcement of the meeting between Putin and the Palestinian President

The Kremlin will promptly announce the timing of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’s visit to Russia to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin. This was announced by the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov.

At the meeting, the leaders of the countries will discuss the conflict in the Middle East. “Well, guess three times for yourself what questions will be raised,” Peskov said.

Abbas’s visit to Russia was announced even before the attack by the Palestinian group Hamas on Israel. At the end of September, the head of the Palestinian Foreign Ministry, Riyad al-Maliki, spoke about this. He stated that he himself intended to come to Moscow for negotiations with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

Abbas’s planned visit confirmed and Moscow. In mid-October, presidential aide Yuri Ushakov clarified that the parties had reached agreements regarding the visit, but the date of the trip had not yet been agreed upon. Russian Foreign Ministry today announced “quick visit” of the Palestinian President to Moscow.

As reported in the Kremlin, the leaders of the countries unanimously declared the need for an early ceasefire and the establishment of a humanitarian truce for urgent assistance to all those in need. On the same day, Putin spent negotiations with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Putin previously said that Israel had suffered an unprecedented brutal attack from Hamas and had the right to protection. He expressed hope for the end of the conflict and negotiations between the parties. The president has also repeatedly called for the creation of an independent Palestine with East Jerusalem as its capital.
