Russian President Vladimir Putin’s trip to Kazakhstan is not related to the interest of European states in establishing relations with Kazakhstan, since Moscow and Astana have historically independent relations. This was announced by presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov.

“We are developing our independent relations with Kazakhstan, so they are much closer than Kazakhstan has with many other countries. We are natural historical partners, allies, and the upcoming official visit is very important from the point of view of the further development of the entire complex of our bilateral relations,” Peskov said.

He also noted that regional cooperation plays an important role in relations between Russia and Kazakhstan. “Therefore, the two presidents will take part in the plenary meeting of the Forum for Interregional Cooperation between the two countries. And, of course, checking the clocks across the entire complex of relationships, and they are very multifaceted. This includes mutual investments, cooperation in literally all areas, and, of course, exchange of views on regional problems, of which there are many around us,” Peskov added.

It was previously announced that Putin will visit Kazakhstan on an official visit on November 9 reported in the Kremlin press service. As part of the trip, Putin will meet with the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, with whom they will discuss issues of further development of bilateral relations, prospects for interaction within the framework of integration associations in the Eurasian space, as well as current regional and international problems. Following the meeting, several joint documents are expected to be signed and the presidents will speak to the media.
