The Kremlin expressed regret that Armenia will not participate “at a high level” in the CSTO (Collective Security Treaty Organization) summit, which will take place tomorrow, November 23 in Minsk. Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov told reporters about this.
According to Peskov, the Kremlin hopes “that there will be participation at the working, expert level,” and also expects that “Armenia will continue its work within the organization.”
Earlier it became known that Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan will not participate in meetings within the CSTO in Minsk, as will the head of the Armenian Foreign Ministry Ararat Mirzoyan. Prior to this, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan refused to participate in the summit.
The CSTO is a regional interstate organization that consists of six countries of the former USSR: Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan. Its main goal is to protect the participating countries from external attack.
