Peskov considered a coordinated stuffing of an article in the media about the explosions of the Nord Streams

Publications about explosions on the Nord Stream gas pipelines are a coordinated stuffing in the media, declared RIA Novosti Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov. Earlier, The New York Times reported that new intelligence indicates the involvement of a certain pro-Ukrainian group in the attack on Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2.

“Obviously, the authors of the attack want to divert attention. Obviously, this is a coordinated stuffing in the media, ”Peskov said.

The presidential spokesman also said that Russia is still not allowed to participate in the investigation, and a few days ago Moscow received notes to this effect from Copenhagen and Stockholm. He expressed bewilderment at how the American officials referred to by the publications can make assumptions about sabotage at Nord Stream without investigation.

“This is not just weird. This smells like a heinous crime. At a minimum, the shareholder countries of the “flows” and the UN should demand an urgent transparent investigation with the participation of everyone who can shed light, ”the Kremlin said.

On March 7, the NYT newspaper, citing US officials, reported that new intelligence indicates the involvement of some pro-Ukrainian group in the attack on Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2. At the same time, the newspaper writes, the United States has no evidence that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky or any of the Ukrainian officials were involved in the sabotage. It is also emphasized that the United States has no data on Russia’s participation in the operation. Later, the German newspaper Zeit reported that the German investigation had identified a vessel that could have been involved in sabotage. According to the publication, traces also lead to Ukraine.

Prior to this, the investigation of the incident on the pipelines published American journalist Seymour Hersh. He claimed that the United States and Norway were involved in the undermining. The US and the EU called Hersh’s information unreliable, to which the Kremlin announced the unwillingness of Western countries to transparently investigate this case.

Earlier, the Russian authorities have repeatedly drawn attention to the fact that Russia is not allowed to participate in the investigation of the incident at Nord Stream. At the same time, Western countries are not conducting a full-fledged investigation into this incident, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in December 2022.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, at a meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the G20 countries in India on March 2, called for an “honest and quick” investigation into the undermining of Nord Stream. He stressed that Russia should participate in the proceedings, which the European countries did not allow to be investigated. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on March 7 that the West should respond to Russia’s official requests to blow up gas pipelines, and not allow leaks in the information field.
