Peskov commented on the return of sanctions against turbines for Nord Stream

The return of Canadian sanctions on turbines for Nord Stream will not affect the condition of the pipelines, which are still in need of repair, said Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

“Only the repair or launch of the only surviving branch of the second stream can now affect Nord Stream. <...> So far, there are no decisions about starting a surviving branch. Therefore, this is unlikely to have any effect, although, of course, the turbines need service and repair. Sanctions will continue to hit not only against whom they are aimed, but also against European consumers,” he said.

Peskov also stressed that to date no decisions have been made related to the repair of the pipeline. In addition, the results of the investigation into the sabotage that occurred at Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 are also not yet known. “We do not know to what extent the countries in whose economic zone this sabotage took place will still insist on getting to the bottom of the truth. It will be interesting for all of us to know,” the Kremlin spokesman said.
