The fuel market is quite unstable everywhere, the government took the necessary measures in a timely manner, said press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov, answering a question about limiting the export of gasoline and diesel.

“The fuel market everywhere is quite unstable right now. Well, there were certain problems here, everything was clear, it was necessary to regulate this market against the background of harvesting work, all agricultural processes, against the background of the ordinary consumer, not only the wholesale, but also the retail market, so the government took the necessary measures in a timely manner,” said Kremlin representative.

Peskov clarified that the measure will last “as long as necessary to ensure stability in the market.” When asked whether there were “social explosions” after this decision, the press secretary replied that there were none and these were “highly exaggerated formulations.”

“It is the government’s normal job to ensure a stable fuel market. The government is fulfilling its functions,” he concluded.
