Peskov commented on Blinken’s trip to Kyiv

The West intends to continue to support Ukraine in “virtually a state of war and wage this war to the last Ukrainian,” Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, commenting on the arrival of US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken in Kiev and the likely allocation of military assistance to Kiev.

“We have heard statements repeatedly that they intend to continue to help Kyiv for as long as it takes. In other words, they are going to continue to support Ukraine in a virtual state of war and wage this war to the last Ukrainian, sparing no money for this,” the Kremlin spokesman said.

Peskov added that the military support of Ukraine will not be able to influence the course of the special operation.

Blinken arrived in Kyiv on the morning of September 6, reported Ukrainian media. The secretary of state’s trip became known on the evening of September 5. The last time Blinken visited Kyiv was almost a year ago, on September 8, 2022.

After that, CNN, citing a representative of the State Department informedthat during the visit, the Secretary of State may announce financial assistance to Ukraine in the amount of more than $1 billion. The channel noted that the trip of the Secretary of State takes place “against the fact that the counteroffensive of Ukraine is moving more slowly than expected.”

The Russian authorities have repeatedly criticized the supply of Western weapons to Kyiv and pointed to the growing direct and indirect involvement of Western countries in the conflict in Ukraine. Moscow also pointed to an attempt by the West to delay the conflict by supplying weapons to Ukraine.
