Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov called the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to disqualify Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva politicized. He told reporters that Russia does not agree with the CAS decision.
“Of course, we do not agree with this… From my point of view, of course, it is a politicized (decision.— “Ъ”),” said Mr. Peskov (quoted from RIA Novosti).
Previously the Court of Arbitration for Sport made a decision on the disqualification of figure skater Valieva for four years for violating anti-doping rules and deprived her of all results achieved in the period from December 25, 2021. Before the start of the Beijing Olympics, on December 25, 2021, the figure skater passed a positive doping test for trimetazidine. It is noted that the disqualification of the Russian athlete is counted from the date of the positive test. During this time, Kamila Valieva won nine titles.
