Algeria is one of Russia’s leading partners and is one of the largest countries in the Maghreb and the African continent. This statement was made on Thursday, June 15, by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov.
The Kremlin speaker emphasized on the air of the Rossiya-1 TV channel that the two states “have a very large agenda of bilateral relations: this is energy, this is agriculture, this is also certain high technologies.”
Earlier, Algerian President Abdelmajid Tebboun, at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, said that he considered it necessary to speed up Algeria’s entry into the BRICS group, explaining this by the tense international situation. The leader of the African state also stressed that “Algeria has always supported Russia, and Russia has always helped Algeria“.
After the signing by the leaders of the two countries of the declaration on the in-depth strategic partnership between Russia and Algeria, Vladimir Putin noted that it would mark the beginning of a new and more advanced stage in bilateral relations.
