Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov claims that the army and the Russians rallied around Vladimir Putin during the attempted mutiny. He called it no coincidence that people with military experience and state awards were invited to the speech of the head of state in front of the military and law enforcement officers who helped stop the rebellion.
“This is not an accident or a coincidence. This is a given and a position. The army, the people, everyone was next to the president,” a Kremlin spokesman said during a press call.
He was asked if the president knew that the two sons of the head of the Russian Guard, Viktor Zolotov, and his grandson served in this department. “Of course he knows,” Dmitry Peskov answered.
On June 23, Yevgeny Prigozhin, the founder of PMC Wagner, announced the beginning of the rebellion, which he described as a “march of justice.” By morning, his fighters occupied the military facilities of Rostov-on-Don. On the evening of June 24, the press service of the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko reported that he agreed about the settlement of the conflict, the PMC fighters went to field camps, Mr. Prigozhin himself went to Minsk. Kremlin does not considerthat the rebellion shook the position of Mr. Putin.
What was celebrated on the Cathedral Square of the Kremlin – in the publication “Kommersant” “They could have entered Moscow… But they would not have taken Moscow”.
