Peskov announced the threat of assassination attempts on Russians by Ukraine

The Kremlin has no information about possible plans to assassinate Yevgeny Prigozhin, the founder of Wagner PMC, but Kyiv has already made attempts on Russian citizens before, so such a threat is not ruled out. This statement was made by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov.

“We don’t know. This is more of a question for special services. This is their profile,” he said.

Peskov recalled that Russia is aware of Ukraine’s involvement in a number of other assassination attempts on Russians, as well as in the murder of political scientist and journalist Daria Dugina. In this regard, the danger of attempts on Russians by Ukraine exists, the spokesman added.

Earlier today, Vladimir Rogov, member of the main council of the regional administration informedthat Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky discussed the assassination attempt on the founder of Wagner PMC with US CIA Director William Burns during his visit to Kyiv last week. Later Prigogine clarifiedthat he is aware of the information about the discussion of the assassination attempt on him.

In January, State Department adviser Derek Chollet declaredthat Washington is concerned about the increased activity of Wagner PMC outside Ukraine, in this regard, the US authorities are working to neutralize the organization. January 20 John Kirby, Strategic Communications Coordinator at the US National Security Council informedthat Washington recognizes the Wagner PMC as an “international criminal organization”, after which the country’s Ministry of Finance will impose additional sanctions against it.

In response, the founder of Wagner, Yevgeny Prigozhin, said that now Wagner and the Americans are colleagues. Later in an open letter he asked Kirby to name exactly what crime the organization committed.
