Russia’s presidency of the UN Security Council was successful and without excesses. Such a statement was made on Tuesday, May 2, by Vasily Nebenzya, Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the World Organization.
In April, Russia held the presidency of the UN Security Council, despite criticism from a number of Western states and calls to expel the Russian Federation from the international organization. At the same time, the United States, as the host country, delayed the issuance of visas to Russian diplomats and completely refused to issue them to journalists from the Russian media.
Russian Ambassador to the US Anatoly Antonov said that the United States wanted to create a “cold atmosphere” for Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, who led the Russian delegation, but did not succeed in this.
The diplomat stressed that there can be no question of any isolation of the Russian delegation at the UN Security Council events in New York – all events during Lavrov’s visit passed brilliantly.
