Penzenets took third place at the Russian fencing championship

Fencing competitions started on January 16, 2024 in the city of Orel. On the very first day of the Championship, Yaroslav Borisov, an athlete from the Penza regional integrated sports school of the Olympic reserve, was able to surprise with the result. Yaroslav is trained by his mentor Yuri Raikin.
The young athlete competed in the cadet category in the saber fencing discipline.
In the quarterfinals, Yaroslav met with Daniil Opalev from the Omsk region. Their battle ended with the victory of the Penza resident with a score of 15:7.
However, in the semi-finals, due to an injury, Yaroslav was unable to continue the fight. Nevertheless, the Penza athlete performed well at the tournament and took third place.
