Penza athletes performed successfully at the Volga Federal District powerlifting championship

On October 21, 2023, the Volga Federal District powerlifting championship took place in Nizhny Novgorod. The participants competed in two disciplines – “press” and “classical press”.
Maria Ushakova won the bench press discipline in the up to 52 kg category, and she took second place in the classic bench press.
Arina Pochivalova also performed well at the competition. She became the first in the bench press discipline in the up to 47 kg category and won a silver medal in the classic bench press discipline.
These competitions are qualifiers for the Russian Championship. Penza athletes have successfully passed the selection process and will participate in competitions next year in Tula.
More than 150 athletes from 11 regions of Russia took part in the tournament.
