Cheboksary hosted the Russian Athletics Championship for athletes over 35 years old.
Penza athletes performed well, winning 9 medals: 5 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze. Yuri Saraev, who is over 85 years old, became a two-time winner, taking first place in the 100 and 200 meters.
Sergey Semenchev became the first in the relay among men over 40 years old and took second place in the 400 meters race.
Irina Semenycheva won bronze in the 1500 meters in the same age category.
Larisa Plotnikova, an athlete over 60, won the discus throw and received two silver medals in other disciplines.
