Pentagon: US warns Russia of Minuteman III missile test launch

Russia has been warned of US plans to conduct a test launch of a Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) on September 6. This was announced by Pentagon spokesman Patrick Ryder.
“The purpose of the test launch of the missile is to demonstrate the readiness of the US nuclear forces, as well as the national nuclear deterrent,” Ryder said at a briefing (quote according to RIA Novosti).
The Pentagon spokesman said that the test is routine and was planned several years ago.
In April of this year, the US Air Force Global Strike Command also conducted a test launch of the Minuteman III. How noted The Vandenberg Space Force Base in California said more than 300 similar tests of the Minuteman III had taken place and the test “is not the result of current world events.”
The Minuteman III missile (translated from English as “militia”) was developed by Boeing and put into service in 1970. The maximum firing range is 15,000 km. The length of the missile with the warhead exceeds 18 m. It can carry from one to three warheads with a capacity of 0.3-0.6 Mt.
