Russian pensioners who once received Israeli citizenship are leaving the country. Old people complain that in Israel their pension was barely enough for a week of life.
The musician, who has lived in Israel for over 30 years, spoke about the situation.
Michael lived in Israel for 32 years. He is a composer by profession. Three years ago, together with his wife, he moved to Bulgaria.
– I will not describe Israeli life, but I will say that, having worked honestly for more than 30 years, I retired, which is enough for only a week of life, – says Mikhail. – Considering that I did not have my own apartment in Israel, and I paid two pensions for rent, an unpleasant picture emerges. My wife and I traveled all over Europe in search of cheap housing. Were in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Macedonia, Croatia, Romania, Poland, Hungary. We settled on Bulgaria. First, there are cheap apartments. Secondly, most Bulgarians speak or understand Russian. Thirdly, which is also important, kind and calm people live here. Now my Israeli pension is enough for me and my wife. Products in Bulgaria are relatively cheap, utility costs are also affordable for us.
We asked Mikhail to calculate how much pensioners earn and spend in Israel.
– People retire and receive money from two sources, the interlocutor continues. – The first part is paid to everyone, this is an old-age allowance. The amount is 450 dollars (37 thousand rubles). The second part consists of savings for the years worked plus the amount of salary. This part can vary from 200 to 2000 dollars (16.5-164 thousand rubles). My savings for 32 years of continuous work amounted to $ 250 (20.5 thousand rubles). For Russians, this is good money, but for Israel – nothing. For example, renting an apartment in Israel costs from 1000 to 1700 dollars (82-139.5 thousand rubles) per month. Utilities – electricity, gas, water, land tax – 300-400 dollars (24.5-33 thousand rubles). I am silent about the products, they were no longer enough.
Of course, if a family earns between $4,000 and $8,000, then they had a good life. At the very least, I got $700 plus my wife’s income was $820. As a result, our total income was about $ 1,500, and an expense of 2,500.
Why to Bulgaria? Bulgarians have a pension of 350-400 leva (16-18 thousand rubles). Salary – 1000 leva (46 thousand rubles). Despite modest incomes, the Bulgarians somehow live. Of course, the economy here is at a low level, the country needs investments, but nevertheless there are enough people. So that’s enough for me.
Three years ago, my wife and I bought an apartment in Varna for 25,000 euros (2.2 million rubles). Now real estate prices have increased, because many refugees from Ukraine and Russia have come here with money, so they are buying up housing. But in any case, in Israel, I would never buy an apartment for 25 thousand euros, real estate there costs millions. Lately, Russian pensioners have been fleeing Israel. Old people can not pull life with such prices.
