Patrushev: Europe has always been afraid of the greatness of Russia

Europe has always been afraid of the greatness of Russia, said Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Nikolai Patrushev, speaking at the educational marathon “Knowledge” as part of the exhibition-forum “Russia”.

“The greatness of Russia has always frightened Europe. Therefore, the goal of all enemies at all times was the destruction of our state. They could not put up with the situation of the rise of the “Third Rome” – Moscow,” he said.

According to him, historically Russia has always been a “bone in the throat” of the West.

“[Россия] represented a powerful civilizational alternative. Where the greatness and influence of Russia was manifested, an impulse for the creation and development of other nations arose,” Patrushev noted. Where the “Anglo-Saxons” invaded, the world saw “blood, tears, conflict and war,” he added.

He named Allen Dulles, Zbigniew Brzezinski, and Madeleine Albright as the ideologists of Russophobia. According to him, they “invented whole theories on how to achieve the inevitable, in their opinion, collapse of Russia.” These ideas, according to Patrushev, formed “the basis of the Western strategy to destroy our country.”

“Under the influence of the West, the erroneous actions of the Soviet leadership led to tragedy, the collapse of the USSR. The collapse of the Union “inspired” the rulers of the United States and other Western representatives. Having forgotten history, they believed that if they strive to divide Russia, they will achieve the ultimate goal of its destruction,” the head of the Security Council noted.

As Russian President Vladimir Putin noted, Western states openly talk about their desire to “split” Russia, as once happened with the USSR. He also accused the West of “total Russophobia” – the authorities of Western countries, in his words, “have been purposefully nurturing hatred of Russia for decades.”
