Patrushev announced deliveries of up to 50,000 tons of grain to African countries in the near future

In the near future, Russia will send up to 50,000 tons of grain to six African countries free of charge. This was stated by the Minister of Agriculture Nikolai Patrushev.
“We will supply grain to African countries free of charge. While we are talking about six countries and about the volume of supplies from 25,000 to 50,000 tons, this is now being worked out. I think that these deliveries will be made in the near future,” he said (cit. according to TASS).
Patrushev recalled that last year Russia exported about 60 million tons of food. It is assumed that this year the volume of exports will amount to 55 million tons, but this figure can be adjusted upwards, Patrushev explained.
On Russia’s readiness to send 25,000 to 50,000 tons of grain to African countries free of charge in the next three to four months informed Russian President Vladimir Putin on July 27 during his speech at the plenary session of the Russia-Africa forum in St. Petersburg. He also guaranteed free delivery of food to consumers. Putin noted that Burkina Faso, Zimbabwe, Mali, Somalia, Central African Republic and Eritrea will receive grain free of charge.
On July 17, Russia announced its withdrawal from the grain agreement, which was signed on July 22, 2022 by representatives of Turkey, the UN, Russia and Ukraine. Separate agreements were concluded with Moscow and Kiev. Moscow has repeatedly noted that the Russian part of the deal to help export Russian grain, fertilizers, etc. was not fulfilled.
