Patrushev and Aliyev discussed strengthening regional stability in Baku

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev discussed strengthening regional stability with Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev, the press service of the Russian Security Council reported.
During the negotiations, the parties discussed Russian-Azerbaijani cooperation in various fields. “The emphasis is on topics related to ensuring and strengthening regional and international security and stability,” – reported in the press service (quote from Interfax).
On September 19, Azerbaijan announced the start of “anti-terrorist measures” necessary for the “restoration of the constitutional order” in Nagorno-Karabakh. The next day, Karabakh authorities announced the conclusion of agreements on a complete ceasefire.
On September 21, negotiations were held in Yevlakh between the delegation of the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh and representatives of the Azerbaijani authorities. On September 23, Aliyev said that after the “anti-terrorist operation” in Karabakh, more favorable conditions had developed for concluding a peace treaty between Baku and Yerevan. On October 5, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, during a meeting in Granada, Spain, signed a declaration recognizing Nagorno-Karabakh as the territory of Azerbaijan.
Head of the European Council Charles Michel October 6 statedthat Aliyev and Pashinyan agreed to take part in a trilateral meeting, which will be held at the end of October in Brussels.
