Palestine accuses Israel of using banned white phosphorus shells
[ad_1]
The Palestinian Foreign Ministry published a statement on the social network X in which it accused Israel of using white phosphorus ammunition prohibited by international conventions in the Gaza Strip.
The statement indicates that the al-Karama area came under fire. The Palestinian Foreign Ministry also publishes a video, claiming that it shows firing of prohibited ammunition.
Note that Israel and the United States have not signed the 1977 additional protocols to the 1949 Geneva Convention for the Protection of Victims of War, which prohibit the use of white phosphorus munitions if civilians may be endangered.
White phosphorus causes severe burns when it comes into contact with human skin; this substance is also deadly poisonous.
