Patriarch Kirill: one must not push away those who left but realized their mistake

Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’ called not to reject and forgive those who left the Russian Federation, but later realized the mistake. He made a corresponding statement in an interview with the Rossiya 1 TV channel.

“There is no need to push away a person who has sinned if he comes with a feeling of repentance, awareness of his guilt,” he said, referring to those who left Russia after the start of the SVO.

In his opinion, Russia cannot reject such people, and he has no other approach to this issue. Patriarch Kirill also noted that the Church does not have the authority to assess the involvement of such people in criminal acts. In his opinion, among such people there are also “quite worthy” ones who made a mistake, got scared or wanted to find something more suitable for themselves.

“And if they return to their home with repentance, then the father’s job is to accept them,” said the Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus’.
