Patriarch Kirill appointed Priest Mishin to the position of archpriest who criticized the transfer of the “Trinity”

Patriarch Kirill has appointed Vladislav Mishin, Rector of the Church of St. Martin the Confessor in Alekseevskaya Novaya Sloboda, to the post of Acting Chairman of the Expert Council on Church Art, Architecture and Restoration, reports press office Russian Orthodox Church (ROC). Earlier, Archpriest Leonid Kalinin was dismissed from his permanent position for “obstructing the bringing” of the Holy Trinity icon to the Cathedral of Christ the Savior.

Vladislav Mishin has also been appointed Acting Diocesan Preserver of the Moscow Diocese and a member of the Patriarchal Council for Culture.

According to data from official site Church of St. Martin the Confessor, Priest Mishin was born in 1974 in Kaluga. In 1997 he graduated from the Ural State Academy of Architecture and Art in Yekaterinburg with a degree in Restoration. In 2000 he was ordained to the rank of deacon by Archbishop Arseniy of Istra, and in 2004 he was ordained to the rank of presbyter.

Patriarch Kirill freed Leonid Kalinin from all church positions on May 26, 2023. On May 15, the Russian Orthodox Church announced that President Vladimir Putin had decided to return the “Holy Trinity” to the church. He also spoke about the agreement to resolve the issue of moving the icon together with the museum community.

“Trinity” by Andrei Rublev will deliver to the Cathedral of Christ the Savior on Sunday, June 4. The relic will stay there until June 18.
