Pashinyan: Armenia joined the ICC due to threats from external undemocratic forces
Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, during his speech via videoconference at the third Summit for Democracy in Seoul, announced threats to the republic from external undemocratic forces that forced Yerevan to join the International Criminal Court (ICC). The text of the prime minister’s statement was published on the official website of the country’s government.
According to the head of the Armenian government, Armenia was attacked by some external undemocratic forces through military and hybrid means, aimed not only against the territorial integrity and independence of the country, but also against democracy.
Pashinyan indicated that Yerevan decided to join the ICC to protect independence, territorial integrity and democracy. At the same time, the prime minister did not specify which forces he was talking about. The head of the Armenian government also reiterated that the Armenian side is committed to the peace process with Azerbaijan and sees its security primarily in peaceful coexistence and cooperation with its neighbors in the region and with countries beyond its borders.
