Pashinyan explained Armenia's ratification of the Rome Statute of the ICC

[ad_1]

The ratification of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC) is associated with the democratic choice of Armenia. This is how Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan explained Yerevan’s decision to ratify this document.

He also added that the adoption of the Rome Statute is connected with the country’s interest in the development of the international legal order, and democracy for Armenia is a strategic choice, and not an opportunity dictated by circumstances.

It is worth noting that the Armenian parliament ratified the Rome Statute this month. Now Yerevan, in the event of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s arrival in the country, will need to comply with the ICC’s demand for the “arrest” of the head of state.
