The interim head of the LPR, Leonid Pasechnik, said that the mobile Internet was completely turned off in the republic. He called it a forced measure taken to ensure security.
“Turning off the Internet is a necessary measure that is related to security issues. If we hadn’t made such a decision at the time and turned off the mobile Internet, this could have led to rather unpleasant situations in the form of shelling, ”Leonid Pasechnik told TASS at a rally-concert in Luzhniki.
The internet will be back on when it’s safe to do so, he said.
The main mobile operator in the LPR “Mobile Communication Systems” since February 11 restricted access of subscribers to the mobile Internet. The operator explained the decision by the recommendations of the Federal Antimonopoly Service.
