Party “For the Family!” started the official registration process – Kommersant

Today, September 19, the Russian traditionalist party “For the Family!” submitted documents for registration to the Ministry of Justice. As the organization’s leadership emphasizes, this may be the first time a new political party has been registered in the last three years.

Let us recall that the founding congress of the party “For the Family!” took place on March 25, 2023 in Moscow. The founder of the all-Russian social movement “Forty Forties”, Andrei Kormukhin, was unanimously elected as its chairman. In addition to him, the political council of the new organization, in particular, included Lieutenant General of the SVR Leonid Reshetnikov, Hero of Russia Igor Zadorozhny, military correspondent and volunteer Anastasia Mikhailovskaya. The party says that today they are ready to open its regional branches in 85 constituent entities of the Russian Federation.

Mr. Kormukhin himself is convinced that there will be no problems with registration with the Ministry of Justice. “At first they predicted that we would not be able to hold the congress. When we successfully carried it out, confident voices began to be heard in the media, Telegram channels and through personal contacts that we would not be able to register,” the party leader told Kommersant. “For our part, we don’t see a single reason why we registration will be denied.” In his opinion, “it will look strange if a party that reflects the position of the Russian President on key issues and implements his decrees is deprived of registration under a far-fetched pretext.” Immediately after the party is entered into the state register, the “traditionalists” intend to take “an active part in the upcoming elections at all levels,” added Andrei Kormukhin: “Except for the presidential elections, in which, as we stated at the founding congress, we will support our President Vladimir Putin, if he makes the final decision to participate in them.”

According to the Law “On Political Parties”, a party must submit documents for registration no later than six months from the date of the founding congress, and the Ministry of Justice must review them within 30 days. If included in the state register, the party will have another six months to register its branches in more than half of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation.
