An international torch relay of friendship and unity will pass through Tambov. Tambov residents will be able to see the Harmony Run on Saturday, June 3rd.
The relay started in 1987. Millions of people became its participants. Runners with a torch, meaning the dreams of people all over the planet about peace, happiness and progress, covered almost 640 thousand km, including more than 240 thousand km in Russia. This significant project was supported at different times by famous people of the planet and Russia: the Dalai Lama, Nelson Mandela, Paul McCartney, Vyacheslav Fetisov, Irina Rodnina, Anatoly Karpov, Tatyana Lebedeva, Nikolai Valuev and many others.
This year, the participants of the relay race will also run through Tambov. Prior to that, in the regional center, such an event took place 5 years ago.
The “Running of Harmony” this year will pass through 17 regions of the country. The western branch started in the hero city of Novorossiysk and will end in Cheboksary. The start of the Eastern branch with a route through Mongolia took place in Novosibirsk, and the finish line is scheduled in Krasnoyarsk.
